Our Philanthropic Involvement: Supporting the CDLS Foundation, Faith Foundation Children’s Home, Among Others

Madison County Wood Products believes that giving back is an integral part of doing business in the community. The team at MCWP supports the Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Foundation and the Faith Foundation Children's Home. The company also offers emotional support to all employees through Marketplace Chaplains.

Amber Gaines Golf Tournament Raising Awareness of CdLS

About the Amber Gaines Golf Classic

For 35 years, Madison County Wood Products and Pallet Logistics Management have co- sponsored a Golf Classic benefiting the Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS) Foundation. Bryan K and Jim Morton are co-chairs of the event. The tournament began as an opportunity to raise awareness and funding for Cornelia de Lange Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder affecting only 1 out of 10,000 live births.

MCWP adopted the CdLS Foundation for philanthropic outreach when Doug Gaines' daughter, Amber, was diagnosed with the condition. A group at MCWP championed the golf tournament to increase the visibility of this rare condition throughout the community and surrounding areas. When Amber passed away in 2020, this golf event was named in her honor.

Numerous MCWP team members organize the annual event. The association's organization committee includes core members of MCWP's leadership team as well as leaders from the team at Pallet Logistics Management. Committee members include: Jim Kesting, Steve Snodsmith (PLM), Doug Gaines, Paul Gaines, Dan Muehlemann (PLM) and Haylee Hercules. Several others from MCWP and PLM volunteer, procure donations, and volunteer their time.

Since the tournament's inception in 1988, Madison County Wood Products has raised $1.1 million for the CdLS Foundation.

Bonnie Royster, president of the CdLS Foundation, shared the impact of the annual golf tournament:

"This event has provided vital support and a sense of community to families affected by CdLS," Royster said. "Jim Kesting's ongoing involvement in fundraising and advocacy efforts has been invaluable, making a positive difference locally and nationally. This heartwarming story continues to touch many lives."

Supporting Faith Foundation Children's Home

Madison County Wood Products has supported the Faith Foundation Children's Home for six years. During the holiday season, employees purchase gifts and deliver them to the children.

Faith Foundation Children's Home supports children through placement in therapeutic foster homes, ensuring they can acclimate to a home environment before being placed in a standard foster home. In addition, the Faith Foundation also provides treatment facilities for severely traumatized children or those with dysregulation issues—including the Faith Foundation's aftercare services that support families and children after treatment.

Log a Load Foundation Benefiting Children’s Miracle Network

Log a Load Foundation allows companies and professionals in the logging and wood products industries to support local children’s hospitals through Children’s Miracle Network by donating the cost of load to the hospital. Madison County Wood Products is proud to support the mission of Log a Load; MCWP donates to the Foundation as part of an initiative organized by the Missouri Forest Products Association (MFPA).

Marketplace Chaplains Serving Madison County Wood Products Employees

Madison County Wood Products participates in Marketplace Chaplains, which designates a chaplain to reach out to employees and provide support. Employees can talk to a chaplain anonymously to discuss concerns, fears, or struggles. Chaplains are matched with companies to provide the best partnership possible and meet the individualized needs of a particular industry.

MCWP prioritizes the emotional needs of each employee. If employees don't feel comfortable reaching out to a supervisor about these concerns or issues, they might choose to internalize the struggle, increasing stress and anxiety. Marketplace Chaplains allow employees to talk through worries, struggles, and challenges privately and without judgment.
