A green bulldozer navigates a dense forest, pushing fallen branches. Sunlight filters through the trees, casting dappled shadows.

Supply chain management is a difficult road to navigate as there are multiple moving parts that need to be maintained and overseen to ensure nothing breaks down. One mistake can cause everything in the supply chain to back up, but when everything is running smoothly, it exponentially increases production. Effective supply chain management is achieved through vertical integration, a process that ensures the supply chain is handled with care from start to finish and provides numerous benefits to MCWP and our customers.

What is Vertical Integration?

Vertical integration is a strategy used to streamline a company’s operations. The company takes ownership of multiple or all stages of the production process to gain greater control over the supply chain efficiency and reduce costs. While this requires capital investment and more time from the company to manage every aspect of the process effectively, the outcome can be incredibly beneficial to the company and their customers. Products are created faster, through more cost-effective methods, and offered to the customer at a lower cost.

Vertical Integration Benefits: Bringing More Than Stability

Enabling vertical integration provides multiple benefits to the company and the consumer. The long-term costs of production are reduced since all aspects of the supply chain are managed by a single entity instead of multiple disjointed parts. External suppliers and entities are no longer required to provide the multiple steps necessary to source, create, market, and distribute the product, speeding up production time and lowering cost. The less external contact points during the process, the less additional funds are required to keep everything moving. With more control over the product, the company can provide more oversight and get more granular on the controls around it, resulting in a superior product that reaches the market faster.

How Madison County Wood Products Implements Vertical Integration

Madison County Wood Products maintains a vertical integration of our wood product creation process from start to finish to ensure that you get the best product possible. The process begins in the forest, where MCWP owns nearly all the land we use for logging. Any additional wood we need that isn’t from land we own is acquired by purchasing pallet cants & cutstock. We don’t use any external logging companies, preferring to keep everything in-house to ensure the highest quality control over our projects.

Not only do we handle the timber and land management, but we handle delivery to our manufacturing and processing plants, then create all the products used in-house. From logging and sawmilling to lumber and pallet manufacturing, we do it all. Because we handle every step of the process, we’ll be the last company in the business to run out of lumber should there ever be a shortage. We do not contract out our logging efforts or utilize third party contacts to distribute or create our products. The speed of our solutions are a testament to how effective our vertical integration is.

Pallet Manufacturing Excellence From Start to Finish

Many companies that claim to be vertical integrators don’t actually control every stage of the process, instead turning to subcontractors for certain tasks to save on costs. This affects overall quality control and production timelines, leaving you with a product that has passed over many hands to finally reach you.

MCWP have made wood pallets our bread and butter, creating heat-treated, reliable, high-quality products that are used across the country. We consider our approach to business as true vertical integration, managing everything from logging, processing, shipping, production, and distribution in-house. The product you get has been exclusively handled by our team through the whole process, guaranteeing the highest quality possible.

The right wood pallet makes a difference in the workplace. Madison County Wood Products understands that high quality pallets can change the way you move and store products, which is why we make the extra effort in the manufacturing process from start to finish.

All of our pallets are locally sourced and U.S.-made, guaranteeing the highest quality. We provide you with pallets that are durable, eco-friendly, and capable of supporting any industry, all using naturally-sourced lumber from local Missouri forests.
