According to Future Market Insights, the wood pallet market accounted for $2.5 billion in 2023, with the top three nations accounting for 47.6% of the market. Food and beverage, construction, electronics, and pharmaceutical industries are ramping up production to meet demand, resulting in the need for more pallets across the world. Out of the pallets at your disposal, the wood block pallet is among the most enduring and user-friendly, standing the test of time while providing everything you need for safe storage and shipment. Block pallets are unique for a variety of reasons, which is why they are one of the most popular pallet options across the world.

Wood Block Pallet Benefits

Block pallets have their name because of the wooden blocks that compose their foundation. Block pallets are typically made up of nine blocks that are set up with a block in each corner, in the center of each side, and at the pallets center to support the unit load.

Unlike other pallet types, block pallets are fully accessible from four sides, making them much easier to load and unload. Forklifts or pallet jacks don’t need to position themselves or the pallets in certain directions to gain access, so operational efficiency goes up when block pallets are used.

Not only that, but block pallets are often seen as stronger and more durable than their cousin the stringer pallet since block pallets combine parallel stringers and perpendicular blocks. This form of construction gives them a greater load-bearing capacity, so more or heavier products can be given extra protection and support during transportation.

Choosing Wood Block Pallets Over Alternatives

Wood or plywood block pallets are incredibly durable and versatile, but why not just go with something like plastic pallets?

For starters, wood block pallets are more durable than you think. The interlinking bands of wood support each other to create a pallet that holds up under extensive strain without breaking. It can easily be reinforced with more wooden deck boards if the need arises.

Additionally, it’s a renewable resource. Wood pallets will eventually wear out, but are easily recycled when they reach the end of their lifespan. They are typically cheaper than plastic alternatives too.
